Similar to any other component in a B&R Automation System, exOS fully integrates with the automatic recovery mechanisms when replacing broken hardware, too. That means in case the hardware running Linux is broken and replaced by a new device, the system automatically triggers the installation and startup of the required exOS Components. Replacement of hardware in an exOS system is therefore as easy and convenient as replacing any field device.
Using exOS, any maintenance functionality that is provided for the PLC side is automatically usable for the Linux part as well. For example, mappBackup used together with exOS will not only backup the PLC application, but all components running on Linux which are deployed with exOS, too.
